The maiden and the bard are separated lovers, and the witch decides to reunite them. The Snake had hypnotized the lover of a Maiden the witch happens upon in the forest, in return granting him great music playing ability. The Snake, found to the north of the Forest, is a manipulative carnival ringmaster that trades people's freedoms and lives in return for them getting gifts. The only way for the witch to save the family was to poison the Ox's crops, at which point the family was freed, and a delicate blossom containing the Ox's soul grew in his place, as he attempts to make another deal with the scarecrow, only for it to take him instead. Upon investigating and speaking with everyone, even at the bandit camp, the witch learned that the Ox was making a deal with his scarecrow, in which he traded his family for the ability to have the best crops. Everyone in the fields noticed that his family went missing, and that at the same time his crops were succeeding greatly, surpassing even that of the vegetable farmer. The Ox, found in the southeast of the Fields, is a massive and angry gardener that is very passionate about his crops being the best crops. With the help of the Sergeant, the witch brews a special honey mead to give the Bear, at which the Bear transforms into a teddybear containing his soul. He has also been eating up the food supply, which the soldier on the road in the woods alerted the witch to. He is the largest of them all, and has been injuring other soldiers, obnoxiously so, by recreating his defeats on the battlefield. The Bear, found in the east of the Forest, is one of the soldiers of the Lakeshore Path soldier encampment. The witch defeats her by using Spirit Salts on her special wine, at which the Leech drops a mummified worm containing her soul. After reviving the old lady's husband, the witch learns that the Leech has been purposefully giving people the plague and robbing them of their blood. She seems very suspicious, alerting the witch to there being more than meets the eye. The Leech, found in the southwest of the Swamp, works at the Sickhouse taking care of the ill. The player character's body dissolves, and the final scene shows the Maiden holding the Witch's cauldron in the air. This time, Witch will ask about the fulfillment of the contract, and it is revealed that Witch is a puppet that was sent to fulfill the contract for the Sleeping Maiden, the real Witch. One last time, once the souls are collected, go back to the Grotto Shrine, and interact with the pedestal. The final 4 souls are The Hog, The Wolf, The Stag, and The Hawk. The Goat will tell Witch to rest, and you wake up in your cabin. Same as last time, once the souls are collected, go back to the Grotto Shrine, and interact with the pedestal.
The second 4 souls are The Ram, The Cat, The Rat, and The Fish. There will be some dialogue, The Goat will tell Witch to rest, and you wake up in your cabin. Once the souls are collected, go back to the Grotto Shrine, and interact with the pedestal. These souls can be gathered in any order. The first 4 souls are The Leech, The Bear, The Ox, and The Snake.
The Sleeping Maiden quest works in 3 installments, assigning 4 souls to gather in one period. The Goat then tells Witch to rest to think on completing their deal, and you wake up in your cabin. After gathering the ingredients, the witch enters the shrine, and finds the Sleeping Maiden, which according to Goat, the witch brought the maiden's body to it to save her, in exchange for the Twelve Wicked Souls that wronged her in life. The witch, having no memory of making such a deal, is lead by to the Goat to the entrance of the Grotto Shrine that the Witch apparently sealed. After Witch awakens, The Goat that woke her up reveals that it is a demon and has come to collect.
